As I begrudgingly enter the last days of summer, I am reflecting on some of my favorite moments from the past few months. It's usually the moments that surprised me that stand out in my memory, and this summer was no exception.
In June, my husband and I finally visited Waldameer Park in Erie, PA. We've lived in Northeast Ohio for much of our lives, but we somehow never prioritized the short trip to this historic park on Lake Erie's eastern shores. As we sailed through the twisty lakeside layout of the Ravine Flyer II roller coaster, we quickly realized what we had been missing. The classic wooden coaster feel combined with the spectacular lake view had us coming back for multiple rides that day.
I'm no stranger to coaster thrills along Erie's shore, but I have to give Waldameer its due credit; I shouldn't have overlooked this little park for so long, and I'll definitely be back next year.
